Caleb's Sweet Great-Grandmothers

Mamaw Helen and Caleb
Aunt Mary was visiting Mamaw Helen so Caleb got a double-dose of lovin'!

Ever since Caleb turned 2 months or so, we have been making trips to visit with all of our grandmothers, and now Caleb's great-grandmothers. What a blessing it is for Caleb to have the opportunity to get to be around all four of his great-grandmothers, who are all in good health. We have enjoyed making the rounds to spend individual time with each of them. What a treat!

4 Months

Caleb, you turned 4 months the day after Thanksgiving. You have grown so much! We just had your 4-month checkup, and you now weigh 15 pounds and 3 ounces (50th percentile) and you are 26 3/4 inches long (97th percentile). You are completely out of newborn clothes obviously. Still hanging on to some of your 0-3 month clothes - some still fit actually. You're mostly in 3-6 mo. clothes plus some 6-9 month depending on what it is. Your PJ's are all 6 mo. it seems due to how long you are.

You're feeding schedule that you have done extremely well on is 6:30a/9:30a/12:30p/3:15p/6p/ 8p. You have just started cereal during your noon feeding, and you love it! (The pic above is your trial run with cereal - you loved it!) Personally, I think you've been waiting on something other than formula for quite a while now! ;) You've been showing interest in what we eat, so Doc said to get you started. Veggies aren't too far away! Still taking your bottle great too.

Sleeping like a champ! 8:30p - 6:30a. Keep it up! Napping well too; however, your naps have shortened a bit. You typically sleep anywhere from 45-50 mins to 1 1/2 hours (this has changed from you sleeping 1 1/2 hours each nap). And yes, Caleb, I know you will not care about your naps, feeding and such but your mama does! I want to remember what you did and when. So, bear with me! :)

You're busy busy with your hands these days! You love putting your fist in your mouth and everything else for that matter. Teething rings are your favorite right now, even though you're not teething yet. Pulling hair and earrings are your specialty too.

Laughing is becoming one of your favorite things to do. You're still just letting out a little laugh each time but you do it so much more now. It's really funny - especially when you're so sleepy you can barely hold your eyes open - and you're laughing!

Rolling over...so close! You start kicking and try so hard to roll from your back to your tummy - then get stuck on your side. You're almost there!

TV...you make us laugh with the TV! We are being careful to not put you in front of the TV too much, but you LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The other day, you laughed at something on the TV - too cute. So far, you're a big fan of Pixar movies and Looney Tunes - good taste!

You've been to Mother's Day Out one time so far - it went great! With Thanksgiving and fever, we haven't been able to go back yet but we will. We also tried out the gym - you did great in the playroom while I got my workout in. You're very easy going and seem to roll with the punches very well! This Thanksgiving was the best yet with you around! When you're 16, you may read this and say it sounds sappy - but we are SO grateful for you, your health, and the fun energy you bring everyday! We love you buddy! Happy 4 month birthday!!!

Calvin and Hobbes

Caleb's first Halloween. There are many costumes in his future. In fact, I think there are many costumes in our family's future. Jonathan and I are already thinking of things we can be for future Halloweens. We always dressed up and went trick-or-treating when I was little, but other than that, I usually don't get excited about Halloween. Things change when you have a baby - In some ways, you get to be a kid again. I'm reallly looking forward to taking Caleb trick-or-treating.

Being one of Jonathan's all-time favorite comics, Calvin and Hobbes was very appropriate when the tiger costume came into play. Benjamin gave Caleb this cute little tiger costume, and it fit perfectly! Good job Benj! Jonathan's red shirt was supposed to have black stripes on it, but someone fell down on the job. Not sure who that was. :) I also wanted to dye J's hair blonde, but he wasn't about to go for that. Anyway, Caleb wins the cutest tiger award!!

Baby Dedication

A very hungry Granddaddy and Daddy

Gigi and Caleb

Ann Gibbs (Aunt Ann) and Nannie

We had our Baby Dedication Service on October 4th at church. The staff made this important day so special for our family. The service and luncheon were both very nice. The food was wonderful! We had most of our family there to take part in Caleb's special day. We loved having everyone there!

We appreciate everyone who was able to come! Caleb, you had so many family members there to support you. Mommy, Daddy, Gigi and Granddaddy Clement, Nannie, Mama Boo, Uncle Win, Uncle Wes, Ann Gibbs (Aunt Ann), Grammy and Granddaddy Smith, Aunt Hannah (and Cousin Walker :), Mamaw Marguerite, Aunt Virginia and Uncle Bob. I wish we had thought to take a group picture.

Caleb, this day was very important because Mommy and Daddy made a commitment to raise you in a loving, Christian home by praying for you, being a Christ-like example for you, and providing you with a church that teaches biblical truth. You will one day come to a point in your life where you can accept Christ. Our prayer is that you will follow Christ faithfully. We promise to keep the commitment we have made, and we also promise to always love you! Hugs and Kisses from Mommy and Daddy.

Travelin' Man

My mom and I recently took Caleb to visit my grandmother, Mama Boo. She loved getting to spend time with him! We are making the rounds visiting all four of Caleb's great-grandmothers. We have two more stops to make and then we will have given our 4 Greats their first special one-on-one visit with Caleb.
Mama Boo and Caleb hit it off immediately! Caleb gave her his dashing smile many times. It's amazing how much baby gear is required when you travel. I never realized just how much stuff we use throughout the day until I packed the car for a night away! Well worth it though - we'll be making many more trips!
