Destin - Part I

Caleb's first trip to the beach was a huge success! He had a fun time, and Jonathan and I learned what family trips are all about! Not exactly total R & R, but we loved every minute. Everyone who told me family excursions are "trips" and not "vacations" were exactly right!:) There are still diapers to change, messes to clean up, food to prep, mouths to feed - you get the picture. But with a backdrop like the ocean, I didn't mind any of those things. Pure heaven!

Caleb didn't care to wear his sunglasses or hat too much. He preferred to squint:)
Busy at work.
Caleb kept his Aunt Hannah super close the entire trip...very attached!
Hannah and her two sidekicks.
Sacked out in the pool.
And still sacked for lunch. He hadn't slept this hard before lunch in a very long time.

My family. Including our little bun in the oven. We found out we were pregnant 2 days before our trip (8 weeks along here). The best news and start to a fun week (although super tiring being early pregnant!).

Notice Caleb is keeping an eye on the water. Pretty sure he thinks the waves are going to come and get him. Terrified.

Caleb loved the pool, loved the sand BUT was terrified by the ocean. Red flags all week was no fun for this toddler! HUGE waves. But we had loads of fun in the sand and in the pool. Good thing we picked a resort with an awesome pool - for that 'just in case' scenario!

And this was his reaction to the ocean.

Dad and Caleb.
Lesson learned. With kids, go to dinner E.A.R.L.Y. Even earlier than what you think is early. :) This is a picture of Caleb being a super great sport with a 115 minute wait. Long wait, yes - but the food was incredible!
My sweet SIL!
Handsome fellas.
Giving it another try;)

Ahhhh Destin, we miss you!
