2 Months Old!
Caleb is 2 months old today! We've had a good day...can't help but be a good day when Caleb is feeling better! He had his first cold this past week, and I'll just say it's no fun watching a little baby be sick. But he's better and has given it to his mother! :)
Caleb, we weighed you today, and you weigh 13 pounds! You are steadily gaining 1/2 pound per week. Way to go!!! You have started cooing and baby talking like crazy! We love talking to you and listening to you...and you're smiling! You've started smiling back at Daddy and me. Today, you and Daddy were doing Tummy Time, and you rolled from your back to your side. You're almost there with rolling over!! It won't be long. You're holding your head up more now. Just a matter of time before you're holding it steady all the time...you're getting a lot stronger! And sleeping...you take AWESOME naps! You are so close to sleeping through the night too...you're showing signs of getting closer...keep 'em coming little man! :) Getting up only one time with you during the night is great, but sleeping all the way through will be even better.
One funny thing you've started doing during your middle-of-the-night feeding... I'll feed you, change your diaper, then get you swaddled back so you're snuggly wuggly. Once I put you in your crib, you've started wanting to have little 4am talks. It's too funny. You'll look up at me with the biggest grin on your face and just talk, talk, talk. So, we talk for a minute or two. Then I'll go back to bed. I hear you talk to yourself on the baby monitor sometimes for another couple of minutes but then you'll slowly drift off to sleep. I'll be so happy when you do sleep through the night, but I will miss our little talks! I love you, and HAPPY 2 MONTH B'DAY!!!

The First Month
The first month flew by so fast...so fast that I didn't even have time to start our blog. I'm playing catch up now. Caleb has really done well since we've been home from the hospital. From the first night we were home until around 3 weeks, he was getting up twice during the night. Then to a mom's surprise (and welcomed surprise), he started getting up only once a night to feed. PLEASED doesn't exactly capture the happiness in only having to get up once! Shouting and jumping for joy is more like it!
Caleb, our world changed immediately the moment you were born! Everything...our sleep schedule, eating cold meals that were once warm, taking turns holding you while eating out (of course, we took you on our first date night to Chili's), getting babysitters, and best of all, living in Babyland with you day in and day out! You actually started putting yourself on a schedule during your first two weeks of life, so you really helped us out by making our job easier when week 3 rolled around. Getting a schedule started was easy with you! Thanks little man!!!
To sum up your first month...
- You eat like a champ!
- You sleep like a champ!
- You poop like a champ!
- You weigh 11.o lbs!
You're doing just what a newborn should!!!! and WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!
Passed out in the middle of Tummy Time! :)

Daddy Time

Caleb LOVES, LOVES, LOVES being with his Daddy! They have lots of man-to-man talks, so Jonathan says. When I ask what they're talking about, I am told that it's between them...it's a secret. ;) Jonathan has been such a great dad to Caleb during the two short months he's been here. I'm really excited about what lies ahead for Jonathan. As Caleb grows, there will be so many more things they can do together. I think it's so important for a little boy to have a dad in his life, one who is involved and interested in playing a part. Caleb, you couldn't have a better Daddy!!! And you surely could never have one who loves you more!!! :)

"We have a birthday!"
The night you came home.
Proud Daddy!
In our hospital room after you came back from the NICU.Caleb, this post is especially for you! You were born on July 27, 2009 weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. and measuring 20 1/2 inches long! Your daddy and I were so excited to see you for the first time. We have been looking forward to meeting you for so long now! You have already blessed our lives more than we could have ever imagined! Dr. S. knew you were going to be a big boy so we scheduled your arrival for 7/27 at 1:30pm. Once surgery began, it didn't take long for me to hear you cry. You were born at 1:39pm. Hearing you cry was the sweetest sound because that told me immediately you were breathing! At this point, I still couldn't see you so I was glad to hear that sweet cry. The next thing I heard was one of the doctors say, "WE HAVE A BIRTHDAY!" I thought it was so sweet that they were all celebrating your life right along with us! Just so you know, you had the best care at the hospital from the moment you arrived. Everyone loved you and took exceptional care of you! Dr. S. held you by me for a few moments so your daddy could take our first picture together. Soon after that, we were back in the recovery room where you got to meet your entire family. Everyone was able to come see you at one time and your daddy was able to show you off! Talk about a PROUD daddy!!! You are so blessed to have a daddy like yours. You have made him the happiest man alive! He couldn't wait for you to get here! We were so thankful to hear you were so healthy and did not have any complications during birth. The nurses did have to take you to the NICU for several hours because you had a small amount of amniotic fluid on your lungs. You actually started breathing too fast-real shallow breathing. They told us it was not serious but that it would clear up on its own. So, they watched you for the afternoon and the fluid cleared up just as they said it would. We were so glad to see you when they brought you back to our room! You stayed with us for the rest of our 3-night stay in the hospital with the exception of sleeping in the nursery at night. I absolutely loved getting to see you during the night when the nurse would bring you to me to eat. Late nights and early mornings were my favorite times with you! We were cleared to go home on Thursday morning, but we didn't get home until 1pm or so. We brought you home to your new room, and you've been sleeping in your crib ever since! You love being swaddled, so daddy and I make sure you are snug as a bug when you drift off to sleep. We love you sweet angel, and we are so honored to be your parents! I can't wait to show you all of your baby pictures one day!

Eating My Words
I said I wasn't going to create a blog because I wanted to do a real scrapbook. One that Caleb could have forever. But I've become addicted to reading so many people's blogs and keeping up with them through their pictures and stories that I wanted to create one of our own. I absolutely love to scrapbook so I am definitely going to begin working on Caleb's book for his first year; however, I know this blog will be great for friends and family to watch him grow! I'm not at all ready for how fast that is going to happen. I can't believe he's already approaching the 2 month mark! I have a lot of catching up to do! We've taken a million pictures of our little guy, so I'll be posting pictures like crazy. Check back soon for more pics!
