"We have a birthday!"

You broke out of your swaddle. We've learned to get you wrapped tightly so you can't break out of it. You have really strong legs!!!

The night you came home.

Proud Daddy!

In our hospital room after you came back from the NICU.

On the way home.

First time seeing you!

Caleb, this post is especially for you! You were born on July 27, 2009 weighing 8 lbs. 13 oz. and measuring 20 1/2 inches long! Your daddy and I were so excited to see you for the first time. We have been looking forward to meeting you for so long now! You have already blessed our lives more than we could have ever imagined! Dr. S. knew you were going to be a big boy so we scheduled your arrival for 7/27 at 1:30pm. Once surgery began, it didn't take long for me to hear you cry. You were born at 1:39pm. Hearing you cry was the sweetest sound because that told me immediately you were breathing! At this point, I still couldn't see you so I was glad to hear that sweet cry. The next thing I heard was one of the doctors say, "WE HAVE A BIRTHDAY!" I thought it was so sweet that they were all celebrating your life right along with us! Just so you know, you had the best care at the hospital from the moment you arrived. Everyone loved you and took exceptional care of you! Dr. S. held you by me for a few moments so your daddy could take our first picture together. Soon after that, we were back in the recovery room where you got to meet your entire family. Everyone was able to come see you at one time and your daddy was able to show you off! Talk about a PROUD daddy!!! You are so blessed to have a daddy like yours. You have made him the happiest man alive! He couldn't wait for you to get here! We were so thankful to hear you were so healthy and did not have any complications during birth. The nurses did have to take you to the NICU for several hours because you had a small amount of amniotic fluid on your lungs. You actually started breathing too fast-real shallow breathing. They told us it was not serious but that it would clear up on its own. So, they watched you for the afternoon and the fluid cleared up just as they said it would. We were so glad to see you when they brought you back to our room! You stayed with us for the rest of our 3-night stay in the hospital with the exception of sleeping in the nursery at night. I absolutely loved getting to see you during the night when the nurse would bring you to me to eat. Late nights and early mornings were my favorite times with you! We were cleared to go home on Thursday morning, but we didn't get home until 1pm or so. We brought you home to your new room, and you've been sleeping in your crib ever since! You love being swaddled, so daddy and I make sure you are snug as a bug when you drift off to sleep. We love you sweet angel, and we are so honored to be your parents! I can't wait to show you all of your baby pictures one day!
