Fun Weekend

This past weekend was a blast! My mom and I took Caleb to the Race for the Cure. We were strollin' for GiGi! My mom is a survivor of 26 years!!!, so we walked in honor of her and my grandmother. Lots of cancer survivors in our family...so blessed!! We tried taking a picture before the race but I somehow goofed up the camera. So this pic was taken after the race and Caleb is obviously ready for his bottle!
After the race, we headed to the pumpkin patch. It was the best pumpkin patch I'd ever been to. We'll be going back year after year I'm sure. I realized I'd been taking my class to the wrong one all these years now that I'm no longer teaching...oh well! It was pretty chilly and VERY windy (you can tell by the looks of my hair!)! Caleb was so sleepy while we were there...he slept almost the whole time. If I were snug as a bug and held like he was, I'd sleep too! We'll just have to show him pictures and tell him about the hayride he went on and about picking out a pumpkin. :)

Thanks to the Cadzows for taking our picture!

AND, to top off an awesome weekend, Jonathan and I were so surprised to discover Caleb is now capable of sleeping 10 hours at night! 8:30pm - 6:30am. He's been sleeping through the night (7-8 hrs.) for about 3-4 weeks now, and it has been wonderful! We knew we were going to try to drop his dreamfeed soon, so we went ahead and tested it Saturday night. Lo and behold, little man slept 10 hours! We are so proud of him! He's been very consistent so far too, so we're more than pleased!

On the road again!

Caleb and GiGi

Our little punkin'

Caleb passed out on GiGi...one minute cooing and the next snoozing!

Doing what we do best...EAT EAT EAT!

Caleb and Uncle Wes

Now that Caleb is sleeping through the night, it's much easier to pack up and stay the night away from home! I took Caleb to visit his grandparents, and he did great. He's a good little traveler...we're starting with short distances. :) We had a wonderful time, but we sure missed our Daddy!

Caleb had a great time getting to spend time with his GiGi and Granddaddy! He was handing out smiles left and right. Caleb also got to hang out with one of his uncles, Uncle Wes. We missed you Uncle Win! Wes has already made plans to take Caleb to the zoo just as soon as he's ready! If I know Wes at all, they'll go straight to the monkey house (then the snakes). :) It was nice seeing Nannie as well! Thanks for coming by, Nannie...we'll come pay you a visit very soon. I think it is a huge blessing that Caleb has four great-grandmothers who all live within driving distance! Fun memories in the making...

I'll post more pics of our little punkin' photo shoot later. :) It's bedtime for this tired Mama!

Six of One and 1/2 Dozen of the Other...

Okay, okay, okay...my last post mentioned that Caleb weighed 12 lbs. 16 oz. at his 2-month checkup. I have been corrected! I knew someone would question his weight. Last time I checked, 16 ounces equals one pound making Caleb 13 lbs. I told the nurse that he weighed 13 lbs. according to our baby scale at home. When she weighed him, she said, "No, he's 12 lbs. 16 oz....he's almost there...one more ounce to put him over to 13." I thought that was strange but I let it go. I was more concerned about getting Caleb wrapped up in a blanket while we waited for the doctor because he was freezing! Little naked baby. :) Anyway, I knew someone would make a smart comment about it...and WHAT DO YOU KNOW???...it was my father-in-law! :) I guess we're smarter than the nurses, Bruce! We can do the math! Should I doubt the care they give my son if they cannot give me an accurate reading on a DIGITAL scale?? :) They need to reprogram those digital scales I guess. Anywho, our big boy weighs 13 big ones!!! Caleb, you'll read this post one day and see that your Granddaddy Smith made a jab at your mother. You have to learn to jab right back...as long as you're respectful, of course. :) Granddaddy Smith, we love you!!!

Ouch!

"Ouch!" is what Caleb would have said Monday at the doctor's office after getting his shots if he could talk. He had his 2 month checkup, and it went very well. The nurses gave him both of his shots at the same time so he was finished in half the time. Maybe that was more for his mother, I don't know. :) Caleb did great, though. He cried of course, but I had a bottle ready after, and it calmed him down immediately. Caleb has received excellent care at our clinic...we couldn't be any happier!

Caleb weighs 12 lb. 16 oz. and is now 25 inches long! They measured him 3 times to be sure they were correct. Turns out, the baby scale we've been using here at home (Thanks to you, Nannie!) is very accurate! I weighed him at 2 mos. and he was 13 on my scale, but it's also very hard to get it perfectly balanced with little wiggle worm lying on it. :) Anyway, it was very close...just an ounce difference. Keep on growing Caleb!

Milestone for Caleb!

Caleb slept through the night last night! Yeah Caleb!!! I knew you could do it! This means, I slept through the night too. It's a great feeling and one I haven't felt in a while. We are sticking with what we are doing and hoping for the best in the nights to come, so we can continue his good sleep habits. I took these pictures this morning to mark this little milestone for him (BIG milestone to me!). It's almost as if he knew he had done a great thing...he woke up so happy! :)
