5 Months

The King of Drool!

Beep! Beep! Get out of my way!

Our pretend carriage ride - It was SO fun!

Peek-a-boo...I see you!

Watching the electric trains with Granddaddy - Caleb was mesmerized!

Caleb, you turned 5 months old on Sunday. I can't believe it! You're really becoming Mr. Personality! Let's see, you've been up to a lot this month. For starters, you're eating solids now. Woo hoo! I'll just say, you love it. It didn't take you long to get the hang of eating from a spoon either. So far, you've had rice cereal, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, green peas, green beans, applesauce, bananas, pears, and avocado. Of all of these foods, the only one you do not like is green peas. You're just like your Daddy! I have started making your food, and I was really happy to find out that it's super easy to make. It won't be too long before we can start making some fun stuff instead of just plain ole veggies. :) I've got some really good recipes for you that I'm waiting to use. You're still taking your bottle well; although, you seem to only want me to give it to you. For some reason, you haven't wanted other people giving it to you lately. It'll pass! ;) Since you've been on solids, you've dropped another feeding. So, you're now on a 3.5 hr. schedule. It's been great! You transitioned really well, which tells me that you were ready for a change. 630 bottle+solids/10 snack bottle/130 bottle+solids/430-5 bottle+solids/730 bedtime bottle is what you've been doing during the past few weeks and you've done quite well. You're now taking 2 naps per day with a short cat nap around noon. You've got it made in the shade little man - I only wish I could get 3 naps a day! Your morning nap is from 830-10 and afternoon is 230-430 or 5.
Enough about naps...you're rolling over now!! The first time you rolled over you just kept on going. It happened so fast. I could tell you surprised yourself by how big your eyes were! Too funny. After you started rolling, we began the "Turn over Caleb Game" at night when you'd get turned in your crib. For the most part, you are rolling yourself back over at night now.
You're putting EVERYTHING in your mouth!!! You've always brought objects to your mouth but nothing like what you're doing now. Your bottom gums are starting to whiten a bit plus you are rubbing everything against your gums. It won't be too long before we have some toofers I think! We'll see.
A couple of your favorite things are "Ride Little Horsey" and spitting up on Daddy. :) You're very interested in your toys that play music and talk to you. You've begun motoring around in your walker that you got for Christmas. Highly interested in watching Sully walk around the house. No matter what you're doing, if Sully enters the room, it's over. Sully wins your attention every time. Reading is also a hit. You love looking at the pictures and being read to.
You weigh about 16 pounds - give or take an ounce or two. You were a little wiggle worm when I put you on the scale. :)
You just had your first Christmas. Santa visited you in 3 different places - you must have been super good these 5 months you've been in this world!! For all of you dedicated readers - Christmas post and pics coming soon! :)
Caleb, we love you so much! You make us smile. I just went in to check on you and you're fast asleep on your side. A new favorite for you. Sleep tight little buddy. Love, Mommy and Daddy

Caleb's Sweet Great-Grandmothers

Mamaw Helen and Caleb
Aunt Mary was visiting Mamaw Helen so Caleb got a double-dose of lovin'!

Mamaw Marguerite and Caleb

Ever since Caleb turned 2 months or so, we have been making trips to visit with all of our grandmothers, and now Caleb's great-grandmothers. What a blessing it is for Caleb to have the opportunity to get to be around all four of his great-grandmothers, who are all in good health. We have enjoyed making the rounds to spend individual time with each of them. What a treat!

4 Months

Caleb, you turned 4 months the day after Thanksgiving. You have grown so much! We just had your 4-month checkup, and you now weigh 15 pounds and 3 ounces (50th percentile) and you are 26 3/4 inches long (97th percentile). You are completely out of newborn clothes obviously. Still hanging on to some of your 0-3 month clothes - some still fit actually. You're mostly in 3-6 mo. clothes plus some 6-9 month depending on what it is. Your PJ's are all 6 mo. it seems due to how long you are.

You're feeding schedule that you have done extremely well on is 6:30a/9:30a/12:30p/3:15p/6p/ 8p. You have just started cereal during your noon feeding, and you love it! (The pic above is your trial run with cereal - you loved it!) Personally, I think you've been waiting on something other than formula for quite a while now! ;) You've been showing interest in what we eat, so Doc said to get you started. Veggies aren't too far away! Still taking your bottle great too.

Sleeping like a champ! 8:30p - 6:30a. Keep it up! Napping well too; however, your naps have shortened a bit. You typically sleep anywhere from 45-50 mins to 1 1/2 hours (this has changed from you sleeping 1 1/2 hours each nap). And yes, Caleb, I know you will not care about your naps, feeding and such but your mama does! I want to remember what you did and when. So, bear with me! :)

You're busy busy with your hands these days! You love putting your fist in your mouth and everything else for that matter. Teething rings are your favorite right now, even though you're not teething yet. Pulling hair and earrings are your specialty too.

Laughing is becoming one of your favorite things to do. You're still just letting out a little laugh each time but you do it so much more now. It's really funny - especially when you're so sleepy you can barely hold your eyes open - and you're laughing!

Rolling over...so close! You start kicking and try so hard to roll from your back to your tummy - then get stuck on your side. You're almost there!

TV...you make us laugh with the TV! We are being careful to not put you in front of the TV too much, but you LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The other day, you laughed at something on the TV - too cute. So far, you're a big fan of Pixar movies and Looney Tunes - good taste!

You've been to Mother's Day Out one time so far - it went great! With Thanksgiving and fever, we haven't been able to go back yet but we will. We also tried out the gym - you did great in the playroom while I got my workout in. You're very easy going and seem to roll with the punches very well! This Thanksgiving was the best yet with you around! When you're 16, you may read this and say it sounds sappy - but we are SO grateful for you, your health, and the fun energy you bring everyday! We love you buddy! Happy 4 month birthday!!!
